Have yourself a Harley Christmastime
Whilst not renowned for his festive cheer – or any cheer – Paul Browne does acknowledge that there are people for whom Christmas is a time of goodwill.
And giving.
As such our grudging Grinch has taken a peek at what Harley-Davidson has on its tinsel-decorated shelves for those embracing the spirit of the season.
If you’re searching for the ideal Christmas gift for your biking buddy or perfect pillion then Harley-Davidson may have just the thing.
They may not have elves on their shelves, for which we are all surely grateful, but they do have some great gear to help spread good will to all men and women this festive season.
Modern classic
In the men’s corner, the Old English Stacked Bar & Shield Jacket caught my fashionable and safety conscious eye.
It has a style that embraces heritage while still being bang up to date. A modern classic if you will.
To that end it’s lightly insulated with a water-resistant coating.
I really like the diamond quilting.
Then there’s that different Bar & Shield logo which was extended horizontally to better fit H-D fuel tanks back in the sixties. It’ll fill a generous-sized stocking for €210.00
Puffed up
Unwrapping an Up North Puffer Jacket is likely to bring winter cheer – and warmth.
It’s manufactured from wind-resistant nylon and woven cotton, its quilted body detailed with elastic cuffs.
The logo is on the front and the arched H-D is proudly displayed on the back.
You can park this one under the tree for €122.50.
Tee time
Would it be Christmas without a Harley t-shirt? The Die Hard of comfort wear perhaps?
I really like the simplicity of the Off Roads tee.
The design is simple and stands out with an open jacket.
It’s ideal for the annual office shindig and is priced at a relatively wallet-friendly €39.00.
Face time
While it’s safer to wear a full face helmet, there’s only one type of lid to wear on a H-D machine. An open face one.
I reckon that the Achromatic Sun Shield X14 Three-Quarter Helmet looks particularly cool.
It features a fibre glass shell with a scratch resistant visor that retracts back into the body of the helmet for when that all important eye contact is necessary.
You can connect it via Bluetooth to the infotainment system on your bike and the liner comes out for a wash.
Most importantly, since it’s got an open face you can kiss the beloved biker you’ve gifted it to, under the mistletoe, without taking it off!
A lid for lovers, it costs €336.00.
Passage for windier
Now to the mens’ Passage adventure jacket.
Whilst unfortunately titled, this jacket is the bees, coming as it does with a ventilation system, glove friendly fasteners, detachable kidney belt and a wind-proof Schoeller C-Change® membrane which regulates body heat in all sorts of weather.
Its Hydratex® 3L membrane keeps the rain out and the VCS Aquadefence ventilation system allows for better cooling.
An easy to close collar is complemented with REV’IT! armour and everything is housed in 500D textile to deliver durability, tear and abrasion resistance.
Coming in at €1,181.00 it’s definitely one for that very special man in your life. But he’s worth it right?
