Unique track-trained Panigale comes to market

Ducati’s flagship Panigale has always been special. Revered even.

But now an extra-special, track-trained machine has come onto the pre-owned market, an ultra-light Panigale that proved its mettle on the testing continental circuits.

And it could be yours…..

 

While there are never a lot of the bigger pre-owned Ducati Panigale models available, this is the first time that one like this has come to the market.

The bike is a 2016 Panigale 1299.

Like most of these pedigree machines the mileage is tiny, with only 8,000 kilometres on the clock.

Although that’s, unfortunately, where the competing on a track starts and ends. This is because the 1,285cc engine precludes it from racing. Rather, the bike has been used for track days. These ones have exclusively been ones run on Spanish circuits by Motocraft.

Before the bike was prepped for the track it weighed in at a featherlight 190 kilos. When the lights, indicators, original parts like the footpegs and their mounts were removed or swapped for lighter pieces, the bike tipped the scales at a mere 178 kilos.

Horses not spared

The eight valve V-twin engine produces 196 bhp as standard.

One of the reasons that this particular bike is so special is because it produces so, so, much more.

This Panigale puts out a staggering 214 bhp thanks to the ECU being replaced with a race one.

The 124 foot pounds of torque just adds that little bit more to the show!

It’s suspension setup consists of a pair of adjustable Marzocchi forks with Öhlins internals and a Sachs rear shock.

The brakes are state of the art Brembo monobloc 4 piston pieces. Cornering ABS comes on the bike as standard from the factory.

Stands delivered

With track bikes, and especially one this powerful, it’s important to be able to change tyres quickly and efficiently.

For that, you need a set of paddock stands which, of course, are included, together with front and rear wheel removal sockets.

There’s more good news as the bike is sitting on new tyres and warmers.

While there’s a full service history this is a bike that also has a past. Earlier this year, in Aragon, the rider ‘let it go’ in a very light incident. As a result he christened it and it bears a little bit of light scarring on the fairing.

Dream machine

As a one-of-a-kind machine, this Panigale is the stuff of dreams, only it’s faster and more beautiful than most of us could imagine!

It’s one of the ultimate circuit bikes and a collectable that’s finished to a standard that we may never see again.
